Papercraft Sunflower Template
Papercraft Sunflower Template
Historically the sunflower has been a symbol of loyalty, happiness, and well - the sun! Personally, they remind me of warm summer days spent laughing and playing in the sun with my friends and family.
Did you know that every sunflower is actually a group of hundreds of little flowers? Each little section of the middle is technically its own flower. That’s why one plant produces so many seeds!
I didn’t go as far as to make each individual flower in this pattern but at 522 parts, this model is still quite the undertaking. Despite its detail, this model is actually fairly straightforward to build and I don’t think any experienced paper crafters should have much trouble with the assembly. If I had to rate it out of 1 to 10 for the difficulty I’d say it's a 6, maybe a 7.
Have you never made a papercraft model before and you are not sure if it's something you want to do? Have a look at this tutorial video I made that goes over the basics!
What you get:
A printable pdf template containing all the parts you’ll need.
DXF and SVG files for use with craft cutting machines.
Illustrated instructions showing how to put it together, step by step. (You can preview the instructions here.)
What you Need:
Paper - 1x Brown 8.5”x11” sheet, 4x Yellow 8.5”x11” sheets, and 6x green 8.5”x11” sheets (or your choice of colours!)
Glue
Scissors/craft knife/craft cutting machine
Tweezers
Assembled Dimensions:
Roughly - L: 8.41” x W: 8.33” x H: 14.10”
Tips:
The leaves are optional.
Be careful with the stem, while it has an internal support structure, any significant dents may still weaken it to the point it won’t stand up on its own.
The trickiest part is probably around parts 390-400 as the opening starts to get narrower and the sepals (the small green leaves) tend to get in the way. Just take your time and go slowly, it will get easier again once you clear the sepals.
